A SUCCESSFUL SEASON. ASHBURTON LADIES’ CLUB. A report of a successful season was presented at the annual meeting yesterday of the Ashburton Ladies’ Golf Club, at which the captain (Mrs J. H. Grigg) presided. The annual report stated that the season closed with a substantial credit balance. The standard of play was well maintained during the year and friendly matches were played with Timaru, Temuka, Geraldine, Methven, Rakaia, and at Hagley, Leeston and Harewood. The tournament was a success; a large number of entries was received and conditions were ideal. The senior championship was w on by Miss J. Horwell (Timaru) and the junior by Mrs O’Shea (Russley). The club championship created considerable interest. Miss J. 'Lane won the senior championship, Miss Newton the intermediate and Mrs iS. H. Truman the junior section. The silver medal was won by Mrs J. M. Mcßae and the bronze by Mrs S. H. Truman. The loss of some members who had left Ashburton was regretted. The committee expressed thanks to members who donated trophies, to all who assisted to
make the season so successful and to the “Guardian” for publishing weekly reports. , The following officers were elected,: President, Mrs E. B. Newton; captain, Mrs J. H. Grigg; vice-captain, Mrs G. I. Miller; secretary, Mrs J. iSmith; committee, Mesdames W. H. Mulligan, J. M. Mcßae, J. T. Thomas, F. W. Seldu'ii, L. J. Watt, E. B. Gondelli and Miss'Z Bennington.
