A SHADE FIRMER
FINAL NAPIER WOOL SALE. BEST OF THE LOCAL SEASON. KEEN COMPETITION MET. .Per Press Association). NAPIER, This Day. Rates from parity to a shade firmer than those ruling at the February sale here ruled on fleece wools at the final Napier wool sale to-day. Competition was keen within limits and well spread over a full bench of buyers. The passings were comparatively infrequent as valuations were made in anticipation of an easement in the market. The inquiry was slightly in advance of expectations. Lambs' [wool met a variable demand and it is difficult to judge the exact tone of the market for comparative purposes- but most brokers consider it a shade easier. Piece wools were from parity to slightly improved. The quality of the entry of 20,500 bales was decidedly mixed, with late shorn back-country wools in the majority and a large amount of seedy wool entered. At the morning tea adjournment a prominent buyer expressed the opinion that, taking the quality into consideration, the sale was the best held in Napier this season, but by a small margin.
