HINDUKMOSLEM STRIFE. BRITISH TROOPS' (SORROW. (United Press Association—Copyright). CALCUTTA, March 23. Mr M. K. Gandhi has taken a yow of twenty-live days' silence, beginning on Monday, in order to "revise certain manuscripts and deal with heavy arrears of correspondence." The Nationalist newspapers are demanding an official inquiry and exemplary punishment for local officials for allegedly mishandling the situation at Karachi last week when troops fired on Moslem rioters, killing 35 and injuring 100. Colonel V. Dashwood (commanding the Second Royal Sussex) is donating a fund to r.ssist the families of those killed. He said that bis troops bitterly regretted the part they had been compelled to play, especially in a city where they had lived at peace for nearly five years.
