’PLANES ALLOCATED

ANNOUNCEMENT BY MINISTER. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government lias made the following allocations of the six De Havilland Moth aeroplanes which have been imported for loan to approved aero clubs: One each to the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast Club, Wairarapa, and Ruahine Club, Wellington Club, ,West Coast Federated (5.1.) Club, Otago Club and Southland Club. In making the allocation, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe said, the claims of various approved clubs received careful consideration. In the case of the West Coast Club, the aircraft represented the initial allocation. Other clubs had already been allotted two aircraft each and the present allocation completed their allotment of three ’planes.

“The aim of the Government in purchasing a further six machines,” said Mr Cobbe, “is in accordance with the plan to further assist some approved aero clubs in the development of thenactivities. Since the present system of assisting clubs in the Dominion was commenced a total of 20 machines apart from the six referred to, had bpen purchased, by the Government for loan to the clubs. The ’planes remain the property of the Government until 1000 flying hours are completed, when they are treated as the absolute property of the clubs.”
