Reports of earth tremors have been received from districts on the southern tablelands. At Gunning a severe shock lasted about <3O seconds, houses being shaken fc-ntT "plaster falling firom the walls. Minor vibrations occurred during tho day, causing alarm among the residents. At Ayoea people rushed from their homes when a severe shook was felt there. Cracks two inches wide .appeared on the Hume highway, one of the fhiain, roads from Sydney .to Melbourne. Goulbuin also experienced slight tremors.
