WAIRARAPA TITLES. MASTERTON, January 24. The Wairarapa lawn tennis tournament was almost concluded to-day, the finals of championship events resulting:—• Men’s Singles—D. C. Coombe (Wellington) beat E. Dickie (Wayerley) 6-1, Women’s singles—Miss B. Gould

(Canterbury) - -Beat—Miss- -Dr -- Haggitt (Wellington) 6-1, '6-4. Men’s doubles—E. A. Pearce and D. C. Coombe (Wellington) beat K. Dyer and E. Page (Wellington) 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Women’s doubles—Misses L. and M. Rutherford (Peilding) beat Mrs MeMaster (Martinborough) and Miss Barns-Graham (Gisborne) 7-5, 6-3. WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS. WESTPORT, January 24. The West Coast tennis , championships commenced at Westport to-day in beautiful weather. The presence of competitors froln Canterbury, including H. Dymond, last year's champion, Motueka, Greymouth, and the Buller district added interest to the tournament. Sixty games were decided and some brilliant tennis was seen at times by the large crowd. The title-holders, Dymond and Miss Costello (Greymouth) won their games convincingly, but P. Warnes (Grey mouth) extended Dymond.

The tournament will conclude on Friday. Patterson and Rear (Greymouth) and Forde (Christchurch) played well, and should be the semifinalists, while Miss Costello seemed assured of retaining her title.

AUSTRALIAN TITLES. ; ; V SYDNEY, January 24. The Australian lawn ten his championships were continued to-day in sweltering heat with the following results:— Men’s Singles. Quarter-Finals. A. L. Quist beat F. Moon, 6-3, 6-3, 6-1. F. J. Perry (England) beat H. Hopman, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. V. McGrath beat G. P. Hughes (England), 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. J. B. Crawford beat H. G. N. Lee (England), 6-2, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. Women’s Singles. Quarter-Finals. Miss Hartigan beat Miss Valkenburg, 6-1, 6-3. Mrs Molesworth beat Miss Hall, 6-4, 6-1. Miss Bickerton beat Miss Hatterslev, 6-3, 6-1.
