SOUTH CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB. SUCCESS FOR SILVER STREAK. (Special to the " Guardian.V) TIMARU This Day. The South Canterbury Jockey Club's winter meeting was held at Washdyke on^Saturday in.fine but dull weather, and, there was a. large gathering of racegoers from all' parts. The track was in excellent order for this time of the year,' and the racing' was interesting throughout. Speculation was not as well maintained as is usual at Washdyke, mainly because, by somewhat weak fields ,in the two trotting events, brought about by the, absence of several Canterbury horses and trainers at Greymouth. The sum of £8152 was handled, as against £8842 10s on last year's meeting. - Concluding results: — Pareora Steeplechase Handicap, of 120 sovs; about two miles and a half.— 2 (2) Peterette (V. Langford) 1, 6 (6) Dukla 2, 4 (4) Night 'Parade 3. Won by a 100 yards. Night Parade fell, but was. remounted and gained third money. Time, 5.21 2-5. Winchester Trot Handicap (in harness), of 95 sovs; one mile and a half, (2) Black Jester (D. C, Watts) 1, 1 (1) Great Minto 2,2 (8) Lena Bingen 3.' Won by a length and a half. Time, 3.25.

Teniuka Hack Handicap, of 95 sovs; one mile and 35 yards.—l (1) Polydora (M.' Kirwan) 1, 4 (4) Heather Glow 2, 8 (8) Silver Sight 3. Won by half a head. Time, 1.43. The concluding day of the Nelson Trotting Club's annual fixture was held at Greymouth on. Saturday in fine weather and before a large attendance. Keen racing was again witnessed and some very fine times were registered on a track which was in excellent condition for speed. In the Nelson Trotting Club Handicap the winner, Gold Paper, established the new two-mile winning figures for the course of 4min 33 2-ssec, and the runner-up, Waress, set up the new track record at 4min 30 4-5 Financially the fixture was also a success, as Saturday's investments, which amounted to £7786 (win £3729 and place £4057) brought the total for the two days to £13,783, which must be considered a very satisfactory figure. As the club held only a oneday meeting last iseason, and that at Nelson, a fair' comparison cannot be drawn. Details are as follow:

Victory Park Handicap, in harness, of 110 sovs; one mile and a quarter — 1-1 Tangatu 1, 2-2 Recess 2, 3-3 Royal Audo 3. Won by half a length, a length between second and third. Time, 2.53.
