Ferriman, a teacher at the Hampstead v Anglican Sunday School for over 50 years and superintendent for a considerable period, wa» presented with a silver-mounted umbrella suitably inscribed, by Miss F. Childs, the senior teacher, on behalf of the pupils and teachers yesterdayafternoon. Mr J. Cook referred to his long acquaintanceship with Mr Fernman ancf eulogised his work at the schoool. Mr Ferriman, in responding, paid a tribute to the early teachers who had laid the foundations upon which he had. built..

The directors of the Timaru Woollen Ct., Ltd., have appointed Mr J. Denholm, who is now -residing in Timaru, as manager of the woollen mills. There was a large number of applicants. Mr Denhdlm was mill-manager at the Oamaru Woollen Mills for 22 years, and was : general manager of the Albany mills, in Western Australia, for three years up to 1931, when the mills closed owing to the depression. He has had: wide Scottish and New Zealand experience, and is thoroughly conversant with all the requirements of mills of the type of tli'ose in Timaru.. It is Mr Denholm's intention to introduce the latest methods of manufacture when the mills reopen within the next week or two.
