There has been considerable discussion in London on the report that tlie Commonwealth yesterday paid interest on the 4) per cent. 1956 loan in New York in paper dollars, instead of gold, thus virtually gaining a discount <n lit per cent. The Australian Press Association understands that representatives of the London banks who collected on behalf of customers accepted the paper tmdoi protest and without prejudice to a subsequent, claim of gold.
