PEACHES FOR HOME.

CONSIGNMENT FROM OTACO. EXPERIMENTAL PARCEL. (Special to the " Guardian.") DUNEDIN, April 7. An experiment of interest to fruitgrowers and of possible value to New Zealand is being made from the Teviot district. On Wednesday Mr W. J. Manuel, of Coal Creek Flat, dispatched on its journey to the Homeland the first consignment of peaches from Roxburgh. ■ Mr Manuel believed that the consignment will arrive in good condition, as he has made successful trials of keeping fruit over a period of greater length than the time occupied by the voyage to England. If the consignment arrives m hrstclass condition there is no reason why large quantities of peaches should not be exported from Otago as well as from other fruit-growing districts of the Dominion.
