MAYFIELD FATALITY.

DEATH OF MR C. F. SACHTLER. VERDICT OF HEART FAILURE. A verdict that death was due to heart failure was returned by tho District Coroner (Mr R.'Clark) when an inquest was held this morning into the circumstances of the death of Charles Frederick Sachtler a labourer, aged 0, who dropped dead at the Mayfield Show on Saturday afternoon. Constable A. C. White said he saw Sachtler lying on his back on a track leading from the rear of the grounds. He had collapsed while driving cattle from the Show. Dr. J. R. Wells .said he attended the Show and was called to the track whore Sachtler had collapsed shortly after 5 p.m. He was dead when witness saw him. Later witness examined the body and found that the heart showed commencing atheronitous changes and other signs of disease. The cause or death was heart failure duo to tho degenerative changes in the coronary arteries. Evidence previously given bv Edward James Burgess, of Mayfield, stated that he had known deceased for 10 years. He had, freouently heard Sachtler complain of pains in his chest, but as far as witness knew deceased had not been attended to by -.a doctor, though lie had on one occasion gone to Mount Somcrs when he thought a doctor was visiting there. He was singls and had lived a quiet and sober life. Witness did not know where Sachtler's relatives lived. The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
