ASHBURTON COMPETITIONS SATURDAYS MATCHES. Senior cricket matches were continued on Saturday, and a further set of matches in the junior competition were completed. In the third grade High School defeated St. Stephen's and Celtic defeated Technical. SENIOR GRADE. ASHBURTON A V. FAIRFIELD. Fairfield went to the crease first in this match last week and when rain stopped the play had one wicket down for 30. Continuing on Saturday Fairfield declared with 202 for seven wickets (C. JUNIOR GRADE. POWER BOARD V. RAKAIA. At the end of last Aveek's play Power Board had 126 for eight and continuing on Saturday they added a further nine runs. Rakaia knocked up 106 in their first innings (M. O'Reilly 19, R. Hooper 30, P. Brown 18). In thensecond innings Power Board made 98 (Reeves 16, Stuart 32, Kerr 19, Welsh 13L At the call of time Rakaia had two wickets down for 101 (Hooper 15, J. Craig 14, I. Behrnes, not out 21, O'Reillv not out 43). Rakaia won by 29 runs on the first innings. Bowling for Rakaia in the Board's first innings I Hooper took six for 54, P. Doig four for 38, and in the second Hooper took four for 24. In Rakaia's first innings D. Stuart took six for 51 and W. Barrett three for 14.

In its first innings St. Stephen's made 73 to which Higli School replied with 127 (Tulloch 37 and Williams 32). St. Stephen's second strike produced 142 (P. Morrison 80). High School's second innings netted IoS (Moikleham 91„ Kelly 28.) TECHNICAL V. CELTIC.

The match between Technical and Celtic was won by the latter by 10 runs. Technical batted first and compiled 60 runs (H. Baird not out 18, S. Roulston 11, I). Porter 13). Celtic went to the crease and made 88 runs (Jordan 15, A. Moore 28, Stills 10). Bowling for Celtic Stills took four wickets, Griffeu 2 and McTiguc .3. lhe best bowlers for Technical were, Boulston six wickets, Harper 2 and btiglcy one. -
