TINWALD EWE FAIR.
ONLY A SMALL YARDING. RANG E OF OPENING PRICES. There was only a small yarding at the annual ewe fail' held at Tinwald to-day. Last year the ynrding reached 40,000, hut to-day it was in the vicinity of 25,000. There was a large proportion of halfbred quality ejives, but despite a large attendance of Layers, prices were on a somewhat lower level than those realised last year. The sale opened slowly, and in the early stages many lines were passed in. As the sale advanced prices firmed a little, but later fell again, and on the whole the average was low considering the quality of a number of the pens. Up till 1 p.m. the top price was 16s 9d, for a pen of 384 2-tooth Corriedales, on account of Mr G. H. Grigg, "Stonylea." Another pen of 844 fine halfbred ewes on,account of another client brought 1.6 s 9d. Three-quarter-bred ewes in fair condition brought 12s 9d to 13s lOd.
A number of poor quality culls was in small demand, and realised 1 from Is to 3s 4<l each.
