DOCTOR IMPRISONED.

A QUESTION OF MENTALITY. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, March 12. John Spreull Courie, aged (14, a medical practitioner, of Otahuhu, was today sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for wilful and obscene exposure. Counsel said that accused deplored his* conduct and asserted that he had continually struggled against the commission of the acts. Counsel thought that although not insane Currie should be sent to a mental hospital for observation.

The Magistrate (Mr W. K. Hunt), said that no doubt everybody who committed such offences was “out of gear,” but lie had a duty to the public. In sentencing accused he left it to the prison authorities to say whether prisoner should get the treatment he desired.
