FORBIDDEN TO LAND
NEW YORK GANGSTER. POKER PLAYING ON LINER. HUNDREDS OF POUNDS WON. (United Press Association— Copyright.) LONDON, August 31. Jack Diamond, a gangster, having made New York too hot to hold him, decided to visit Europe. Search by newspaper reporters located him ahoard the Belgenland, where he was travelling under the name of ISolan. He had cleaned up hundreds of pounds from poker-playing passengers. When the ship reached Plymouth, detectives interviewed- Diamond and three conv panions, who were not allowed to land in England. They are going on to Antwerp.
ARRIVAL AT ANTWERP. JOURNALISTS DISILLUSIONED. (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) BRUSSELS, September 1. Diamond landed at Antwerp. Local journalists were amazed to find ."he was just like an ordinary American tourist."
He was later detained by the passport office pending instructions from here. It is expected he will be declared an undesirable immigrant and be returned to America.
