INJURED BY BOMB.
MILLIONAIRE’S WIFE. AN OUTRAGE IN HAMBURG. INFERNAL MACHINE IN GARDEN. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 2.3 S p.m.) BERLIN, August 26. A mysterious bomb plot at Hamburg against Herr Schleimann (a German oil magnate) resulted in his young wife being taken to the hospital in a serious condition. During the night the miscreants cut all the millionaire’s telephone wires and attached a shutter to an infernal machine loaded with powerful explosive in the garden. .The bomb was discovered in the morning, the fuse having failed to cause an explosion; but, meanwhile, Fi-au Schleimann trod, on a stick cunningly connected with a second bomb concealed nearby, and exploded the contents. She fell unconscious, with her face and arms cut by a score of fragments of bomb. It seems that Herr Schleimann was recently the recipient of a blackmailing letter demanding £1250. The millionaire, however, put the matter in the hands of the police. The dynamite outrage may be the blackmailer’s revenge.
