ATTEMPTED ARSON.
A YOUNG MAN ACCUSED. BAIL OF £IOOO ALLOWED. (United Press Association— Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, Tins Day. The sequel to the alleged preparations to set fire to buildings in Bathurst Street, was the arrest of a young man charged with, having maliciously attempted, to set fire to the premises of McCalister Brothers Bail for £IOOO was allowed. The message published yesterday stated: Plans for a determined effort to burn a block of buildings m Bathurst Street were frustrated by the suspicions of a woman in* a groundfloor shop. She noticed two men leaving upstairs premises which she knew the occupants were absent. She informed the police, who discovered that the rooms 1 had been soaked with petrol. The electric wiring had been interfered with and a string led down to the street door ready for a pull to cause the fusing of wires and ignite the petrol fumes. Tne premises are now' guarded.
