Antony, who resides at McLean’s Matawhem property, returned home on Sunday he found his residence had been broken into and a rifle and cartridges and a supply of canned goods had been taken. , . ... ~r On making investigations AH Antony found tracks leading some distance up the river. On Saturday night another local resident (Mr Piripi, °t Kohunui) had a rifle and an axe removed from his premises. Late on Sunday night two rifle shots were fired over another dwelling in the vicinity. The incident considerably startled the alarmed occupants. Iwo youths were seen at mid-day oil Monday by several children. A large number of residents, under the dncctioiii of Constable Sleeth, ol Martinborough, are scouring the district with the object of apprehending the eulThe younger of the two youths alleged to i>e concerned, is a. European. His companion is a Maori. Both boys are out on license. Up to a late hour last night no trace of the nussing boys had been found.
