The State Government's decision .regarding the basic wage was announced by the" Premier in the Legislative Assembly. Mr Bavin said it was proposed to adopt the .standard of an average family of a man,' wife and one child. He anticipated that the basic wage would be fixed; at £4 8s 6d, with an allowance of five shillings for each child after the first.
