WHITE RACE MENACED

BIRTH CONTROL BLAMED. COLOURED PREDOMINANCY. (United Press Association—Copyright). LONDON, April 10. The fact that the whites are at present' in, the process of being utterly swamped by the coloured races is the keynote of an arresting article by Sir Leo Chiozza Money, in the "Evening Standard." Sir Leo gives as an instance the amazingly low level of birthrates in Europe as the outcome of birth control, the tide of which it is useless to endeavour to stem. He also quotes the instances of France building up a coloured army in Africa, and the American ban on whites while building up large black populations in industrial towns. "In the face of these facts," he writes, "it is not difficult to say that whites in Europe will be forced eventually to import coloured labour. The proportion of whites' in the world is only one in three. We must, therefore, anticipate the certainty that Europe will be seriously reduced, and the whites will be compelled to lay down the leadership 1 of the world. European emigration will entirely cease, industry and the wealth of Europe will, contract, and the British Empire will necessarily dissolve because there will he insufficient whites to maintain it. "As far as the Dominions are concerned, they must remember that there are only 18,000,000 whites outside the United Kingdom. The Dominion birthrate is falling, and soon white emigration will entirely cease, with the drying up of the European population. Hence it is hopeless to look for much laro-er populations in Australia and New Zealand. In South Africa there are 8,500,000 blacks and 1,500,000 whites. The birthrate of America is falling, and .will continue to fall. It will be unnecessary to restrict the European whites, because none will be available." The article concludes: "It used to he said that coloured races would concpier the whites in fearful carnage. Such barbarism is entirely unnecessary, as the same end is being achieved hloodlessly by the will of the whites themselves, who hail childlessness as the shortest way out to better times. The only hope ' for the whites is to pass on' birth control to the coloured races." —Australian Press Association.
