GOLF.

ASHBURTON LADIES' CLUB. The annual meeting of the Ashburton 'Ladies' Coif Club was held last evening, Mrs G. J. S. Fisher presiding over a fair attendance of members. The annual report stated that the past season had been marred by the very wet winter, but toward the end the standard of play had improved. Miss Bodclington had won the senior and Miss Laing the junior championships, the L.E.U. medals going to Mrs Pinfold (senior) and Mrs Smith (junior). The games with Rangiora and Timaru were the only outside matches played, but it was hoped that moro might be arranged for the coming season. Tho thanks of the club were ex- I pressed to those who had given special prizes.

The election of officers resulted as follows:—Captain, Miss Z. Ronnington; secretary, Miss E. Pettey; committee, Mesdames C. M. Pinfold, F. Brodie, .John Lane,- Misses H. Laing and J. Dunlop. Thursday was fixed as match day.. Mrs Pinfold was appointed senior ringer and Miss J. Hosken junior ringre.

BOXING.

RING OUTPOINTS PAPE. (Router.) LONDON, March 29. Ring outpointed Syd ! Pape in a 15-round bout at Newcastle. CURLEY STILL CHAMPION. LONDON, March 29. At the National Sporting Club Johnny Curley outpointed Harry Corbett, thus retaining the British featherweight championship. MODRICH IN AMERICA. SAN FRANCISCO, March 29. George Modrich, heavy-weight champion of New Zealand, arrived on Monday in search of more pugilistic fields to conquer. In his first work-out here he displayed considerable speed.

ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

COUNTY v. SUNNYSIDE,

The following will represent Ashburfcon County in an Association Football match against Sunnyside, to be played on the Ashburton Domain grounds on Saturday:— Hardy (Wanderers), Knight (Wanderers), Begg (Wakanui). Anderson (Wanderers), MoGlymont (Baring Square), Miners (Wanderers), Rendle Wilson (Wakanui), Nicholls (Wanderers), R. Wilson (Wakanui), Gibbs (Wanderers), Houston (Wanderers). Play will start .at 2.15 p.m.

RUGBY.

HAMPSTEAD CLUB. The committee of the newly formed Hampstead Football Club met last evening, when there was a full attendance of members. The Ashburton Rugby Sub-Union advised that the club's affiliation had been accepted. It was decided to accept the quotation of Segers, Ltd., for the supply of jerseys. It was also unanimously decided that the club ensure its four teams under the Union's Accident Insurance policy. It was decided that when a Junior or Third Grade team travel to play country matches, a responsible member of the' club be appointed to look after the interests of the team.
