TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO.

(From the “Guardian,” Mar. 30, 1901.) Tinwald Town Board. —The monthly meeting of the above Board was held in the Temperance Hall, Tinwald, on Friday evening. Messrs C. Doherty (chairman), T. Williams, A. J. Clothier and J. Gudsell were present. An apology for non-attendance was received "from Mr Sealey owing to absence in the country. Action was ordered to be taken against occupiers who had allowed gorse to grow on the road fronting their properties. Some minor business was then transacted, and after passing accounts amounting to £ll 3s the meeting adjourned. Coldstream Road Board. —A meeting of the Coldstream Road Board was held at Hinds on Thursday last. Present: Messrs Dobson (chairman), Studholme, Miller, and Wills. Accounts amounting to £26 were passed, and the Board adjourned. % Pirates Football Club. —The annual meeting of the above took place last evening, when Mr F. Wilson presided over a large attendance of members. The report and balance-sheet for the past year were adopted, the latter showing a credit of £4 15s. The officers for the ensuing season were then elected. It was decided, if possible, to arrange for a match on the Queen’s Birthday, and the secretary was instructed to write inviting the Timaru Club and Temuka Maori Club to pay Ashburton a visit on May 24.
