Galbraith), and the following Councillors:—Messrs F. Z. D hernman, W. H. Woods, R, M. Dunlop, J W. Bowden, John Watson, W. G. Hillier, F W. Seldon, J. Donn, W. H. Robinson, R. A. Collins and R. Kerr. Tho financial statement showed that since'' last meeting £354 7s 5d had been ..received. , Tlio tender of Russell and Co., at 0199 lOs for the extension of drams in common in Netherby and the East End. wase accepted. The estimated price was £l6O. „ _ . The chairman of No. 15 Highways District wrote that the council s application to have East Street, between the Bridge and the North Belt and ’ Havelock Street from East Belt to West Belt declared main highways would be considered at next meeting of the Board.—The letter was received. The Prime Minister asked for the > Council’s assistance in establishing subscription lists for the endowment -of hospital beds in London provided by the Rockefeller Foundation.—lt was -decided that the letter be merely ‘ revived.” „ _ , . . The Inspector of Explosives forwarded a circular letter dealing witn petrol supply pumps on kerbings.—The Tetter was received. • The Sports Protection League requested the Council’s support for. a “davlight saving” measure be introduced next session of the New Zealand Parliament and asked that the • Council he represented at a deputation to the Government. —The letter was received. , ~ _ ••The Salvation Army Band asked tor -.a)" donation. —The matter was referred, to the Finance Committee. The Board or Managers of St. Andrew’s Church asked for a reduction in the rates on the Sunday School, now assessed at £37 10s.—The matter was referred to the Finance Committee for r<3 The Borough Foreman (Mr T. Gibson) reported that routine work had been carried out and asked for 1000 fallens of tar for work on Taaicred treet. —The report was adopted and the request for tar granted. _ The Christchurch Insurance Employees’ Picnic Committee forwarded £2 2s in appreciation of the Council’s action in giving them the use of the Domain for their annual picnic gathering.
