Olivier, a murderer, was guillotined. The thyroid gland wm removed from his body after execution and taken to a hospital, where a young girl was lying prepared for an operation. She was suffering from an aSety tion of the thyroid gland which had left her mentally and physically deficient. Within three months of the operation the girl improved, and after a year possesses all the powers of a normal girl of her age.
