MAGISTRATE'S COURT

CASES AT METHVEN. ! The monthly sitting of the Methven Magistrate's Court was held on Thursday! before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M. Mr Stanley Smith, J.P., was also on the Thomas Kennedy, charged with being on licensed premises during the currency of a prohibition order, pleaded guilty and was fined £3 and costs 7s. Rudolph Culagevich, for supplying a prohibited person with liquor, was fined £1 and costs. The Magistrate warned defendant that if he came tip again for a similar offence he would not be treated so leniently. Albert A. McMillan, Leeston, for being on licensed premises during the currency of a prohibition order, was fined £3 and costs. . Charles Leonard Roi, Southbndge, was charged with having driven a motor car without a registered number attached. Defendant, who did not appear, was fined £1 and costs 7s. _

Mary Agnes Rouse proceeded against I the School Committee for £5, for cleaning school premises Mr A. K. North appeared for plaintiff and Mr J. W M Dart for defendant. After hearing evidence the Magistrate said he took into consideration the fact that the school had been closed for some time during the Infantile Paralysis , endemic, but he ruled that plamtiff ■ was in the employ of the committee at ; an annual salary. Judgment was en- : terea for plaintiff for £2 with costs totalling £5 19s 6d.
