RAILWAY SERVICES. NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS. TROTTING RACES AT TIMARU. TRAIN ARRANGEMENTS—3Ist OCTOBER. CHRISTCHURCH-TIMARU— Special passenger train, stopping at certain stations, leaves Christchurch 7.55 a.m., Rakaia 9.13, Ashburton 9.45, and arrives Timaru Racecourse 11.9
A return tram, stopping at Washdyke to pick up and at certain stations to set down passengers, leaves Timaru 6.36 p.m., and arrives Christchurch 10.13 p.m. Special trains for racehorses and passengers travelling with them will leave Christchurch for Washdyke at 5.50 a.m., and Washdyke for Christchurch at 7.15 p.m. The special trains will NOT run if the races are POSTPONED. TIMARU-ASHBURTON Afternoon train for Ashburton leaves Timaru 5.10 p.m. arriving Ashburton 8.0 p.m. It connects at Washdyke with special train leaving Racecourse for Timaru at 5.25 p.m. FARE S. Excursion tickets to Timaru will be issued from Ashburton, Oamaru, Fairlie, Waihao Downs and intermediate stations by trains arriving Timaru up to 11.5 a.m. on 31st October, available for return until 2nd November.
Special fares to Timaru Racecourse by 7.55 a.m. special train from Christchurch on 31st October available for return from Timaru up to 2nd November, also available Racecourse to Timaru on day of issue by special trains between Timaru and Racecourse at fares which include Is for course admission, will be issued as follows: From Rakaia, 17s 5d first-classy 12s 2d second-class; Chertsey 16s 5d and lis sd; Ashburton 13s lid and 9s lid.
