THE MELITA TRAGEDY
CONDITION OF THE WOUNDED. (Per Press Association —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.30. a.m.) LONDON, October 23. The police onet the Canadian Pacific liner Melita at Southampton, and the greatest .secrecy was observed: in taking off the first officer, Towers, who is under arrest for shooting the commander <Oaptain Clowes) at Antwerp, and wounding the assistant chief engineer (Mr Holiday) and junior second engineer (Mr David Kennedy Giknour, formerly of DimedSi*). Mr Gilmour's condition is more hopeful The bullet entered the ifaee.and lodged in the ear, and will probably be extricated to-day. Mr Holiday is also improving. Towers was charged at Southampton with the murder of Captain Clowes, and was remanded for a week. Accused is aged.s6, and is a native of Bristol.
