Colonel John Studholme is visiting Ashburton to-day.

Mr F. J. Smallbone, who has been on a, business trip to Great Britain, returned to Ashburton tKis morning.

Mr A. A. McDonald, manager of Wright, Stephenson and Co.'s Ashburton branch, left for " Bushy Park" by this morning's express. He will return on Monday.

Mr A. W. Hopkins left by this morning's express en route for Mount Cook.

Mr Alex. Anderson, local manager for the National Mortgage and Agency Company, left for Gore by the express this morning.

Mr E. H. Andrews, of Christchurch, was a passenger on the first southbound express this morning.

Vice-Admiral who commanded the battle-cn; ; sr> : ' ?V,y Zealand, has been appointed to command the ( Pioyal Naval College at Greenwich.
