THE ESCAPED LEOPARD.

HOW DID IT GET OUT? INQUIRY BY THE MINISTER. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 22. “We have written to them asking haw the leopard got out, but we have not got a reply vet,” said the Hon. R. F. Bollard at Tuakau, in referring to tho multifarious duties which fell to his lot as Minister of Internal Affairs. “Unless they give us a satisfactory reply they will not be allowed to bring any more leopards into the country.” Someone mentioned snakes. “Yes,” said tho Minister, “I will not allow snakes in the country. Even if a showman came to travel the Dominion to exhibit snakes I doubt if I would allow them to land, because one might get out. They say they are harmless, but let them keep those harmless animals in other countries.”
