Both the man and Ins wife were incinerated, and the firemen found their pet dog lying dead between the bodies. Before setting fire to his house, Guiard spent hours smashing up the whole of the contents of his workshop, including models of his invention of a valveless two-cylinder motor engine—which he spent many years m perfectinfie chalked on the motor-cars in the garage: "In memory of what you have done"for us, you hypocritet" Another message said: "The English are not as smart as they tinnK.
