TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. (From “Guardian,” March 22, 1898.) The annual meeting of the Alford Forest Racing Club was held in a paddock belonging to Mr Herring, of Alford, opposite the Forest Hotel. The following were the results of the various events: —Hurdle Race —Mr J. Smith's Lapwing 1, Mr R. Campbell’s My Jennie 2. Memoir also started, but ran off at the second hurdle. Maiden Trot, li miles—Mr A. McCormick’s Dundee (15sec) 1, Mr J. Smith’s Wildboy (20sec) 2. Also started—Sefton (10 secs), Jennie (20sec), Masher (29sec), Dolly (20sec), Miss Tekoa (lOsec), Forest Lass (lOsec), Miss Dalles (lOsec), •Bella (lOsec), Abdallah Shales (ser), Daisy Belle (lOsec), Full-back (15sec), Bertha (lOsec), and Mona.
