CAPTAIN EVANS' BRAVERY.
BRILLIANT FEAT REWARDED.

LONDON, October 28. The King has . awarded Captain E* R. G. R. Evans, captain of H.M.S. Broke, a silver medal for gallantry. When commanding H.M.S. Carlisle no heard that the Chinese steamer Hongmoh was broken m two m Kankiang Estuary, with 1100 Chinese passengers aboard. The Carlisle rushed to the rescue, and Captain Evans swam over a mile m a heavy sea, boarded the liner, encouraged the terrified Chinese, and directed their rescue by the Carlisle's boats. Thus were 221 saved.
