LONDON FREE SALES.
FAIR DEMAND FOR CROSSBRED. LONDON, January 27. The free wool sales ha\ r e closed. Sixty thousand bales were offered, and practically all were sold. There was extremely good competition through-, out, from Home, Continental and United States buyers, mostly for good merinoes, which closed 10 to 15 per cent, above opening rates. Carbonising sorts advanced 5 per cent. For cross- : breds there was a fair demand. Fine declined 10 per cent, compared' with Deecmber.The r Bradford market is firm, but little business is. passing. Quotations for February-March delivery are: — Sixty-fours quality, 51d; 56's, 45d; 50's, 28d; 46's, 18d.
