Extreme action possible; (Per (Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 28. . The tension with, regard to the coalmining crisis is not yet relaxed. Today further conferences too£ place, but the difficulty rjwith relation to the appointment of a chairman of the tribunal, which the Prime Minister proposes should inquire into alleged victimisation at Blackball, has not been ■sur-;. mounted.. It is understood that a certain proposition was made to the executive of the Miners' Federation, but the latter rejected the proposal. It is said that an important statement will be made to-morrow by the secretary of fhe federation as to the next move. Some of those closely connected with the dispute consider a strike inevitable, but others hope that a settlement will be arrived at before an extreme step is taken: It is generally recognised that the position is very serious. The [Prime Minister, when seen tonight, 6aid that the time was not opportune to make a statement m the mai^r.. Arrangements had been made for another interview to-morrow and ha hoped that as a result the position would improve. >
