RESTRICTIVE MEASURES.
A DUNEDIN RESOLUTION. DUNEDIN, January 28. The following resolution was passed by the Roman Catholic Bishop and clergy of the diocese, assembled m Dunedin yesterday: — "Whereas the hierarchy of Ireland have protested that the policy of frigtfulness under which civilians are ill-treated, flogged and murdered, and shops, creameries and homes raided and looted and young women torn. Half-dressed from their homes m the middle of { night has been connived at. encouraged and apparently organised by the English Government, and whereas not only, the friends of Ireland all the world over, but also Anglican bishops, English lawyers, statesmen and Pressmen have m the name of Christianity condemned this regime of terror m Ireland, we feel called upon to reiterate the declaration 61 the Irish bishops that not by inhuman aegression will the. Irish question be settled, but by. recognition of the indefeasible right of Ireland, as of every other nation, to choose the of Government under which its people are to live." : .
