LOSS OF EXPORT TRADE.

(Received January 29, 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Mr Freeman, the chief partner m the firm of -Messrs Freeman and Company, London, who are big buyers of canned goods, stated that the careless and indifferent methods of packers and canners were killing the Australian export trade m canned and preserved fruit. There was a glut of ripe fruit at present, and hundreds of tons were going to the tip daily of rotting m orchards. There was not a single export order m Australia at present, whereas there should be orders for 300,000 to 400,000 cases. He urged the grading of goods true to sample so that they reached the retailer m an attractive marketable condition. . QUEENSLAND PINEAPPLES. (Received January 29, 11.30 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. The Minister of State Enterprises announced that pineapple growers would be guaranteed 5s a case for approved pines. The Commonwealth is financing the scheme.
