FINANCIAL EXHAUSTION

This morning while searching for persons in connection with the bonfires lighted in the streets to ■celebrate Dr. Mannix's airrival, a number. of men hanging round a fire at St.' Mary's Abbey refused to disperse. The soldiers fired a volley. One man named Farreil. was killed, and another was wounded.
At a meeting of the Dublin Corporation it was announced the Government 'had refused grants for £170,000 unless the Corporation prohibited the recognition, of the Dail Eireann (the socalled Irish Parliament). The financial position of the Corporation was hopeless,' and it must close the iminicipal institutions'.and the "sanatoria.......
