A swordfisli which was washed ashore on the ocean teach at Westshore (says the Napier "Telegraph") has been bought by the Wanganui Museum, and has been placed in the freezing works pending instructions. The fish was lift 6in long, 4ft 6in girth, its tail 3ft 6in from tip to tip, the actual sword a foot long, or, with the bony structure of the nose, 3ft. Its weight was between 4cwt and scwt. The fish was evidently a fighter, one eye being gone and several recently-healed scars appearing on the body. Two remora, or pilot fish, were inside the big' fish's gills, and those remained alive for 24 hours. The swordfish was noticed in the breakers on Friday by a woman, and was las-, soed by Mr'T. Boyd: With the aid of a horse it was. dragged on to dry land. It is thought that a warm ciirrent must be setting towards Napier from the tropics, as recently thresher sharks, a large sun fish, and now a swordfish (auite different from the variety caught by rod and lino at Russell) have been captured at Westshore.
