REGISTRATION OF ALIENS.

MELBOURNE, April 24. The Senate read a first time the Registration of Aliens Bill, which defines an alien as any person over 16 years, who is not of British nationality and includes the wife of an alien. It provides for the registration of every alien resident in Australia, and also of all alien crews of oversea vessels, and .passengers, who must register at first port,of call. Hotel and hoardinghouse keepers must furnish a return of all aliens staying on their premises, and aliens must notify any change of address within seven days. Officers are also empowered to take finger prints.
