The monthly meeting of the Ashburton District branch of the W.C.T.U. was held in the Baring Square Schoolroom on Tuesday afternoon, Mrs W. T. Lill presiding over i a moderate attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs G. Miller and Miss Butterick.
: A communication was received from the Minister of Internal :\Affairs asking that a delegate from the'ljinion be appointed to the Town-plannijig Conference.." Wellington,—The matter was held over for further consideration.
It"' was decided that Mrs Perryman he invited to visit Ashburtbn in July, aiid to arrange for an afternoon and evening meeting. ..
The notice of motion moved at last meeting came up for discussion. On a vote being taken, it was. unanimously decided that in future the union meet in Victoria/Hall. The secretary was instructed to write to the Trustees of the Methodist Church Property informing them of the .decision, and to thank th.eni for the use of the buildings during the. past 12 years; also to assure them that the courtesy kindness shown the union at. aliHmes by the officials was. deeply.appreciated by the members. It ..was. also decided that the union meet on' the second Tuesday in the month, instead of the first.
Mrs W. H. Robinson, .delegate to Convention, submitted ah interesting and comprehensive report of proceedings. . ,
A hearty rote of thanks was accorded Mrs Robinson.
