MOUNT SOMERS ROAD BOARD.

The Mount Somers Road Board held its annual meeting on Monday last. Present: Messrs V. It. Tin-ton (chairman), W. T. Smith, J. W. Coniyns, and.J. T. Hutt. , I'lio Chairman of the Springburn School: Committee wrote asking the Board to repair the footbridge over the creek in the htaveley-tpringburn .Road.—lt was decided to have the bridge repaired as soon as possible. A numerously signed x^etition from ratepayers in the vicinity was received asking for a bridge to be erected over Bowyer's Stream.-^lt was, decided to refer the petitioners to the County Council- . : ,■.,'■' The following transfer was authorised:—Lots 92/3, U.S. 34055. Aiford Survey district, from James Price to John McClimont. The Clerk presented the balancesheet for the past year, which was adopted subject to audit. It being the last meeting of the retiring board, the Chairman thanked the members for the loyal -support they had given him in carrying out his duties, and expressed his regret at the retirement of Messrs W. T. Smith and J..T- Hutt. Accounts amounting to £-15 is were •passed for payment. The annual meeting of ratepayers took place after the luncheon adjournment, only a few ratepayers besides the members of the board being present. The Chairman presented the balancesheet, which showed a substantial credit balance, which the chairman explained was owing to the difficulty in getting labour. As soon as the necessary labour could be procured, there was plenty of work required doing that would soon reduce the balance.—After a general discussion on road matters in general, on the motion of.
