He enlisted with the Ninth 'Reinfonttwnts, : and left New Zealand by the TaHPv for the theatre of war early in 1916> He was badly wounded at Armentieres in 1916. and never fully recovered. Private McCallum was an old pupil of the Borough and High Schools, attending the latter during 19J98-9. He will be : affectionately remembered in football and musical circles,, alwayswillingly lending his talents in either of these directions. The funeral, with full military honours, will take place from the residence of his parents/ Mr ahdi tf Mrs I It. McCallum, to-morrow, when' the' Returned Soldiers' Association will supply a firing party, pall- ! bearers, and escort.
