WORKERS' HOUSES.

[To the Editor, " Gtjakdian."} Sir.—At the present time there is a scarcity of houses in Ashburton, and as our soldier lads come back the position will be more acute. As a solution, I think the Borough Council should take the- matter up and erect working men's homos on some of the numerous reserves we have in Ashburton. These houses could be let at a rental that would cover the interest and sinking fund, !sav. for a period of 25 years; and by .'proper care these houses would still be ' poqA value at the end of that time, and tho council would also gain by the ineroased rent of these reserves, also .in the annual rates.
