The Wairuna ©state, Lowcliffe, having been purchased by the Government for subdivision for tiie settlement of returned soldiers, a clearing .sale was conducted by the (N.Z. l^armei's' Coop, on tine property yesterday. There was a largo attendance of fanners from aili parts of the county, and the stock ail round, being well-bred and in good condition, met with keen competition. The horses were a particularly good lot, and both broken and unbroken draughts realised high prices.
