RANGETATA ROAD BOARD
,-A meeting of the Rangitata Road Board was held at Lismore on Thursday. Present: Messrs A. McKenzie (chairman). B. Withell, 31. Charles, and C. Jaine. . '
The clerk's repoi*ts, etc., were read,, and he was instructed to apply to the County Council to have the race serving: as outfall to some pipes on Lismore Road deepened, also to supply pipes, for two races at Clement's corner and three between Anderson's corner and Rangitata Bridge.
A good deal of correspondence was received from Government departments: and others in reference to peace celebrations. Progress League, town-plan-ning, Labour Department, half-holiday, public health, Anzac Day, rates, birds'; heads, etc. . <-■• -•'' " • '
-t.j was .resolved to support .the.-Pro.-, gross' League in urging on the Government the*-necessity for more rapid progress with - the Otira Tunnel and' increased "railway accommodation.
It was decided to make grants tor Hinds, Mayfield, Carew, Ruapuna, Lismore, aud Ealing, School Committees for peace celebrations totalling £45,. inclusive of subsidy (£ for £), peace celebration funds'having to be expended and 'the'expenditure certified to before subsidy will be paid. :\ : ' :'■■'. The board held its annual meeting, when the balance-sheet and chairman's report were approved. I .The- annual 'meeting of \ ratepayer**lapsed for want of a quorum.
