' The "Daily Chronicle's" Berlin corre" spondent states: There is convincing evidence that-, influential people are ready to compromise with the Communists in order to save their own skins. Others are eager to grasp the Bolshevik torch, with a view to throwing it into Entente countries. It is frequently alleged that Rantzau is wedded to the idea of Bolshevism as a good ally against the 'Western Powers. The correspondent j>ut a question to Rantzau on this point, but received no reply. Well known financial magnates provided H- to Li millions sterling for the purposes of Bolshevik propaganda in England, France and Italy. Agents' are travelling with forged French, Belgian and, Czech passports. Many prominent men are already currying favour with Bolshevism with a view to self-protection. A member of the Stinnes family of coal magnates offered to compromise with the Communists, agreeing to surrender the mines provided the family was not ruined.
