BOWLING CLUB.

NEW GREEN APPROVED.

A special general meeting of the Ashburton Bowling Club was held in the Masonic Hall last evening, Mr J. Lane presiding over an attendance of 33 members.

Tho meeting was convened for the purpose of considering a report from a special committee appointed to collect data in connection with the laying down of a new green. The committee's recommendation was as folUws:—"That this club endeavour to secure a site on the hockey ground, and put, down a green according to certain plans. and snecifications, the cost not to exceed £250." -

A lenjrthy discussion ensued as to the suitability of the suggested site as compared with a site alongside the present green, and it was subsequently decided to adopt the special committee's recommendation, with an alteration in the maximum cost, which was extended'to £?m.

'Messrs J. Lane. F. A. Smith, and H. C. Percy were appointed to wait on the Domain Board with a view to securing the site suggested for the new

jrreen. It will be the endeavour of members to nut down the first green free of cost to the club. Subscriptions promised p.t last night s meeting amounted to £120.
