Soldiers awaiting embarkation to England, including those from Mesopotamia, remain in India, in view of the present situation. Advices from Calcutta state that the 'passive resistance demonstrations by the Marwaris, culminated "in serious noting in. the Indian quarter. Several Europeans were assaulted, and some officers were injured. The military were called out and fired, causing a dozen casualties. Order, was restored.

A mob at Gurgwala, in the Punjab, attacked a train, and wrecked >the station. Aeroplanes bombed the crowds. The unrest continues at Delhi and at Lahore, where the rioters, after killing five Europeans, looted _ tho banks and burnt buildings. The mission church depot was also destro^d. Strong military forces quelled the riots.
