RAKAIA

On Saturday a Progressive Doubles I Bowling Tournament was carried out |on the Rakaia , green. - Twenty-four j players participated, including a large number from Ashburton and a few from' Methveri. The management was ably carried out by Mr Percy, of Ashburton. Play began at 10 in the. morning, and the weather was perfect. At tho close of play Mr Percy spoke on behalf of the visitors, and Mr J. Sowden for the Rakaia players. Five games were' played. For the skip's 4 prize Messrs H. Haydock and W. E. Judkius tied-with 4 points each. In the play-off Mr Judkins won. For the' lead's prize, Mr J. Wilson was successful, with 5 points, Mr W 7. Oakley being runner-up with 4-J points.

This day's play means the end of the season for the Rakaia Club, as the green will* now be closed and topdressed.
