CHRISTCHURCH, April 21. The annual meeting of • the Canterbury Provincial Fire Brigade Association was held in the Lyttelton Borough Council Chambers on Saturday night, Mr O'Malley, president, being in the chair. There was a representative attendance.

, The president, in his address, said it gave him much pleasure on behalf of the executive to open the fifth annual conference of the Association, and he trusted that their deliberations would Drove of lasting benefit to the fire service in general. At a meeting of the executive in Christchurch, several suggestions had. been made, and it was decided to leave them to the conference for the delegates' consideration, one being that one official timekeeper be appointed in each event, and one to act as a check only. The balance-sheet showed receipts £35 3s lid, and expenditure £10 16s. Since the audit, one brigade had paid its subscription for 1920, and £10 had been drawn and paid to the Lyttelton Demonstration Committee, leaving a credit balance of £15 18s.

The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Superintendent Bamhury, Christchurch Railways;-vice-presidents, Superintendent Sherwood and Superintendent Hean; secretary, Lieut. NichoHs, Ashburton; treasurer, Superintendent Barber, Ashburton; auditor, Mr A. M. McClure, Ashburton; brigades' representatives, Lieut. Walklin, Lyttelton, and Fireman . Nuttall, New Brighton. At the termination' of the business, the visiting firemen were entertained at ajsmoke concert in, the Social Hafl at tlie "Fire Brigade Station. A massed Church parade by th© local and visiting firemen was held yesterday morning, at St. Saviour's Church, West Lyttelton. About one hundred firemen accompanied by the Mayor and councillors, attended. The service was conducted by the Rev. E. Eliot Chambers.
